How many fat quarters are there?

Amanda has been cutting fat quarters today. How many fat quarters are there in 7.5 inches of fabric?

We might need to schedule a fat quarter frenzy sale if she keeps up this pace.

Cabin Branch Quilters and Stone House Quilters Quilt Show 2012

We were a vendor at the Cabin Branch Quilters and Stone House Quilters 2012 Annual Quilt show. The membership of both guilds get together and have breakfast and lunch for the show volunteers and the vendors, which is most appreciated by all!

We have our sample quilts hanging along the back of the booth. The first quilt is the 1600 Quilt Race. Amanda made this one in 55 minutes! It was a lot of fun to watch her speed sew, which is her normal speed!

The next one is a Civil War Reproduction quilt that my friend Susan H. made for us.

The last one is made with big block from Sweet Sixteen fabric, very modern looking quilt.

All three quilts were quilted on our longarm machine.

We had a book shelf full of wonderful books and 509 Spray Bastings.

We have plenty of panels to make sewing children quilts a breeze, from "Good Night Moon" to the "ABC" panels you can see in this picture.

Next show is this week - March 14 - March 17th at the Lancaster Host Resorts. Stop by and say Hello to Amanda. We have a $1.00 off admissions here on the blog and the website, http://www.auroraquilts.com/

Gammill Vision 18-8 Sales Representative

I love these shop babies. Kirsten and Quintin are "nap testing" a quilt that my Mother-in-law made in the early 1940's. My daughter Amanda and I quilted it for my Sister-in-law Janet and afterwards my grandchildren did the nap testing. It took 4 generations to complete this top. When is that napping going to start?

But a new shop baby is on the way to keep his big brother company. We have signed up to be a Gammill Vision 18-8 Sales Representative in our shop, Aurora Quilts, 9100 Church Street, Manassas, Virginia 20110.

Big Brother - Gammill Statler Stitcher

Come by the shop or stop in our booth at the Quilt Shows to visit and play with our new shop baby.

Hampton Quilt Show - March 25, 2012

This is me at the Hampton Quilt Show this past weekend. I was enjoying looking at all the wonderful quilts.

The quilt below was a group effort to surprise my friend Ginny R. with a quilt for her birthday. I made five of the blocks and did the quilting on our Gammill Longarm Quiltng machine. Of course we used the every popular Lime Green thread!

Happy Birthday Ginny!

Block of the Month Quilt

The colors are very rich with a wonderful border fabric to highlight the medalion center. We have room for one or two more particpants in the Block of the Month Club. Call us at 703.330.9111.

Christmas 2011 Present for my Sister In Law

I'm finishing up my Christmas 2011 quilt gifts. Yep, it is now January 2012!

This quilt took 4 generations to complete. This must be a record!
First Generation: My Mother In Law made the quilt top in the 1930's. Love, love the fabrics. It was hand pieced by Lucille.

Second and Third generation: My daughter Amanda (Granddaughter) and I quilted the top.

Four generation: Lucille's great-grandchildren - Kirsten and Quintin were the Nap Testers! Look how sleepy and peaceful the two look.

Unfortunately, since it's taken so long to get this completed including the label and this picture on the back that the cat has had fun taking real naps on the top. Since my  Sister In Law is allegic to cats this will add the final step of washing the quilt before packaging it up to mail. Good thing Janet's birthday is in Feburary. I could count it as both Christmas 2011 and Birthday 2012.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
